MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN’S CLUB - DEDHAM JUNIOR WOMEN’S CLUB

Statement of Solidarity

As members of the Dedham Junior Women’s Club (DJWC), we pledge to grow, share, give and care. We reaffirm our goals to serve our community with goodwill, friendship, and a commitment to social justice.

Those of us who focus on serving our community recognize that there are times in history when we need to take a stand and declare our unambiguous commitment to help. That time is now.

Injustice, racial bias, and economic disparities remain deeply rooted problems in our society. We acknowledge the pain, anger, and fear expressed in peaceful protests around the nation, the need for systemic reforms to create a more just society, and the importance of conversation and healing as we move forward.

To those who have suffered injustices, we offer our support. We commit to educate ourselves about the nature and history of those injustices and to explore how we can address and remediate them. As fellow members of the community, we will do our best to listen to and lift up the voices of people who are directly affected and to stand in solidarity with them.

We strive to be instruments of trust building, change, and peace in our community, and to advocate for a world that is kinder, inclusive, and equitable.

It is our goal to contribute to the solutions. We know that each of us can make a difference. Our community is stronger when we unite and work together.

Signature Projects

  • DJWC has been hosting the summer concert series at the Endicott Estate for over 30 years. We have presented music genres of all types from kids to country to Irish to The Beatles to jazz.

  • This year will mark our 38th year running the Dedham Jr. Women’s Club craft fair. Happening the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the Dedham Middle School, the craft fair boasts over 100 vendors and over 1000 shoppers. Money raised is used to support local causes and to fund our community activities.

  • We provide scholarships to help families juggling the high cost of a college education. Our scholarships recognize students who have embraced the volunteer spirit. We also support women continuing their education to open new doors and expand their skills.

  • We have helped several women in Dedham continue their education through our Empowerment Grant which started in 2018. We hope this continues to be a source of support for women looking to advance their careers or broaden their horizons.
